Program on Public Private Partnerships in the Energy Sector - Kenya

#

CRI developed and delivered a capacity building training program for twenty-nine Kenyan government officials and private sector experts from the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the National Treasury, the Ministry of Devolution and Planning, the Privatization Commission, the Energy Regulatory Commission, the Kenya Transmission Company (KeTraCo), the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), and the Kenya Generating Company (KenGen). The training was tailored such that the participants would gain a deeper understanding of the financial, economic, stakeholder, risk and regulatory implications of PPP projects in the Energy Sector. The theoretical and practical components of the program were designed in the context of the prevailing challenges in providing reliable access to electricity in Kenya in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner. Furthermore, the program's aim was to foster better energy policies and regulations and promote reforms within the energy sector.
